☺Always
use a soft, safe surface on which to place your
baby for tummy time Never place him on a
carpet, which could be unclean and harbour dust
and hair, especially if you have pets
☺Short,
regular periods of tummy play are better than
longer, less frequent periods
☺Rescue'
your child if he starts to show signs of
becoming alarmed or irritable - it is important
that his tummy experiences end on a positive,
happy note every time
☺Try
lying your baby in front of a mirror so he can
see himself and marvel at his reflection, or
give him a favorite toy to stretch for or move
towards
☺Don't
encourage tummy time when your baby is tired, or
soon after he has fed - he is likely to feel
uncomfortable and might even be sick
☺It
is important that you always supervise baby
closely, especially when he's still very new to
playing on his tummy
☺Never
let him fall asleep on his belly, and ALWAYS put
him to sleep on his back
